Man City eyeing Paul Pogba transfer swoop

Manchester City have not been reluctant to approach some of their fellow Premier League clubs to sign their marquee names in the past.

Some players who have made moves to the Etihad Stadium from other top-flight clubs include Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and John Stones.

Now that the summer transfer window is set to open for business in the coming weeks, it seems as though the Citizens have their eye on securing the signature of another one of the Premier League’s top talents.

What’s the news?

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, City are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer this summer.

With his current contract at Old Trafford set to expire at the end of June, the Frenchman could be set to call time on his six-year second spell with the Red Devils.

Pogba re-joined the Manchester club in the summer of 2016 from Juventus in a deal worth a then world-record fee of £89m after leaving for free in 2012.

In 233 senior appearances for City’s rivals, the 29-year-old – who is currently picking up a wage of £290k-per-week – has scored 39 goals and provided 51 assists from midfield.

Despite playing just 20 league games for United this season, the 2018 World Cup winner has still delivered nine assists for his current team, which is more than any other player in their squad.

Also, with an average of 1.6 shots per game, only Cristiano Ronaldo (3.6) and Bruno Fernandes (2.4) have a higher average of players currently in Ralf Rangnick’s squad. This show just how much of an attacking danger the Frenchman can be from midfield.

From a defensive point of view, Pogba also has an average of 1.8 aerial duels won per game. Taking into account how United are the only team with a higher percentage for aerials won this season than City, adding the 29-year-old to their ranks could be a great way to make the English champions even stronger in the air.

Described as a “work of art” by his recently deceased agent Mino Raiola, Pogba could be a solid addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad if the Citizens are able to work out a deal for him in the summer.

In addition, taking a player off their rivals to potentially become an important figure for City and win trophies would presumably leave many fans in the blue half of Manchester ecstatic.

Southampton: Brekalo transfer update

Southampton are interested in on loan Torino star Josip Brekalo, according to a report from Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown: Career so far

Currently on loan in Italy from parent club VfL Wolfsburg, the 23-year-old has so far amassed 192 professional career appearances across spells with Dinamo Zagreb and VfB Stuttgart prior to his most recent moves.

A fully-fledged Croatia international, Brekalo was a reported target for Everton, Liverpool and several La Liga sides in the summer of 2021.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/southampton-newest-updates/” title=”Southampton newest updates!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

And, despite Torino having a reported €13million (£11million) option to buy in the loan deal from Wolfsburg, other potential suitors are now in contention to land the winger.

The latest: Saints eyeing ‘sensational twist’

As per Tuttosport, cited by SW, Southampton are believed to be ‘in the lead’ to sign Brekalo should the permanent move to Italy not be triggered.

It’s claimed that the Saints are ‘ready to throw themselves’ into the mix to sign the man capped on 30 occasions by Croatia.

However, the report states that it would take a ‘sensational twist’ were Torino to pass up the opportunity to sign Brekalo, who has been dubbed an ‘exciting talent’ by journalist Josh Bunting following a brace against Fiorentina this season.

The verdict: Star capture

So far this season Brekalo has scored seven times and provided three assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, earning an impressive 7.10 Sofascore rating in the process. He is completing 1.3 dribbles, taking 1.4 shots and winning 0.7 fouls on average per game.

When using the FBref comparison tool, the versatile Croatian attacker is keeping some esteemed company in terms of playing style, closely matching the likes of Dmitri Payet and Arsenal duo Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard.

With the futures of Theo Walcott, Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo under scrutiny, for anything close to the apparent current asking price, Ralph Hasenhuttl would welcome Brekalo to the St Mary’s ranks with open arms as the Austrian looks to bolster the ranks ahead of next season.

Leeds: Whelan backs Gelhardt for key role

Leeds United employee Noel Whelan has backed Joe Gelhardt to play a leading role against Brighton in their crucial Premier League match this afternoon.

The lowdown: Leeds bereft of options

Already likely to be without talismanic striker Patrick Bamford after Jesse Marsch confirmed that the 28-year-old was still being ‘assessed’ during Friday’s pre-match press conference, Dan James’ suspension leaves the Whites with little in the way of attacking options.

Rodrigo completed 90 minutes in midweek against Chelsea but the Spaniard can also play in deeper roles, whilst winger Jack Harrison was added to the injury list as Leeds succumbed to a 3-0 victory at Elland Road.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/latest-leeds-united-updates-3/” title=”Latest Leeds United updates!” poster=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/cropped-2022-03-10T184055Z_1834933207_UP1EI3A1FW561_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-LEE-AVA-REPORT-1-scaled-1.jpg” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

Gelhardt was chosen to lead the line recently against Arsenal before being withdrawn when Luke Ayling saw red inside the opening half-hour, and Whelan has backed the 20-year-old to be handed another opportunity…

The latest: Whelan wants Gelhardt to start

Speaking to Football Insider, the Leeds ambassador urged Marsch to opt for a more ‘natural’ centre-forward option for today’s clash against Graham Potter’s side.

The 47-year-old said: “It’s very difficult as a young player to come into any squad when you’re on the back of defeats. It’s a lot to carry on your shoulders and a lot of responsibility.

“It’s made more difficult with the injuries and the sending offs. We’re losing that experience, we’re losing players. Dan James, Luke Ayling, Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw, that is a huge amount of experience in these last few games we’re missing. I hope it doesn’t hurt us, I hope somebody steps into their shoes and becomes that leader. Probably a little bit earlier than they expected.

“We’ve not had a natural goalscoring striker, a number nine, all season. That’s been difficult for us. Whoever’s played there has found it quite difficult to play that number nine role. In my opinion, Gelhardt is the more natural number nine.

“He is as close as to a number nine as we’ve got at that football club and I believe he’s got to start. There’s nothing in my mind that says that kid will not thrive against Brighton. I think he can take all the responsibility, he’s got that maturity about him in his game.

“We need captains and leaders out there. It might come a little early for some but they need to rise to this challenge.”

The verdict: Time to step up

Already a match-winning hero with a late goal against Norwich City earlier in the campaign, Gelhardt may need to come to the fore once again when Leeds need him most of all.

So far this season, the Liverpudlian starlet – who was described as ‘astonishing’ by talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham – has scored twice and provided three assists in 18 Premier League outings, impressing for the most part given his tender years.

However, it’s for the Whites’ under-23s that Gelhardt has mainly flourished, netting seven goals in just 10 matches at that level, and Marsch would be well served to turn to someone with such a clinical nature for a pivotal final two games for Leeds.

Alternatively, the American could stand firm with Rodrigo or gamble on another youngster in Sam Greenwood, but whichever way the boss turns today, the Elland Road faithful could be looking for an out-of-sorts Raphinha to return to form.

Georgia Elwiss 112, death-bowling heroics seal high-scoring win for Southern Vipers

Vipers confirm spot in knockout stage after holding off Sunrisers’ charge in pursuit of 310

ECB Reporters' Network12-Sep-2021Georgia Elwiss scored a century and produced some clutch bowling at the death as Sunrisers edged Southern Vipers with a nerve-shredding one-run victory in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.England allrounder Elwiss struck her first List A century since 2013 with a sublime 112 before defending eight from the final over to return 1 for 52. Sunrisers, who are still yet to win in the format, smashed their highest score in the competition and would have chased the highest total in domestic women’s cricket if they’d succeed in their pursuit of 309 on a belting Cloudfm County Ground, Chelmsford pitch.Vipers are now confirmed a place in the Eliminator, with victory over Northern Diamonds on Saturday enough to send them straight to the final.Ella McCaughan got Vipers, who had been stuck in, off to a storming start with 23 off 12 balls before chipping to cover. That brought in freshly capped England batter Maia Bouchier, who built a 45-run stand with Georgia Adams before chipping a full toss to deep midwicket.Elwiss and Adams took very few risks in reaching fifties in quick succession – Elwiss first off 63 balls and Adams off 73 deliveries, which included a pulled six – followed almost immediately by the 105-ball 100 partnership.Adams ticked an edge behind without adding to 50 but that didn’t stop Elwiss’ rampage, Gaby Lewis helping with a 44-run stand for the fourth wicket. Naomi Dattani took two wickets in two balls – Lewis bowled by an in-ducker and Emily Windsor caught behind – but Paige Scholfield restarted things again with 62 alongside Elwiss.Elwiss skipped through the 80s with a couple of off-side boundaries but laboured through the 90s with singles before reaching her hundred in 108 balls. Scholfield slapped to cover, Tara Norris was bowled, Carla Rudd was run out and Lauren Bell was stumped as Elwiss ended up unbeaten on 112.An imposing chase seemed much easier as Cordelia Griffith and Grace Scrivens smoothly chipped 75 runs off with little worry. Scrivens was bowled by Adams for an enterprising 30 but Griffith and Lissy Macleod took hold of the chase. Griffith on the back of two fifties in three innings reached the milestone again in 48 balls. She and Macleod totted up 112, a record partnership for Sunrisers, as a maiden RHF Trophy victory began to look on the cards. Griffith was lbw to Lauren Bell nine short of a deserved century and Macleod was lbw to Elwiss for a sensational 79 but Sunrisers were on course thanks to Fran Wilson, even as wickets fell around her – Dattani was caught, Kelly Castle was stumped and Jo Gardner was caughtWilson finished with an unbeaten 65 off 51 balls but needing eight to win off the final over, and then six off the final ball, the England batter could only sweep the final delivery for four.

Nathan Ellis' yorkers and slower balls backed to make impression at IPL

It has been a rapid rise for the Tasmania and Hobart Hurricanes quick with his BBL coach seeing more to come

Alex Malcolm14-Sep-2021Two years ago, Nathan Ellis was sitting in Adam Griffith’s office at Bellerive Oval in Hobart pondering whether his professional cricketing dreams might be over. Two years later, he might get his chance to make an IPL debut in the coming weeks with Punjab Kings just a month after taking a hat-trick on his international debut for Australia.Griffith, who is working as an assistant coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore, vividly remembers the conversation with Ellis as Tasmania and Hobart Hurricanes head coach. There were no promises given, just an opportunity to train with Tasmania. That conversation has lead Ellis from club cricket to the world’s premier T20 tournament in just 24 months.”I’m just really happy for Nathan. He works as hard as anyone,” Griffith told ESPNcricinfo. “If he gets an opportunity, I think he can do a great job over here [in the UAE]. They are different conditions, and they change through the tournament as well because there’s going to be a lot of cricket played on those wickets in the IPL and then into the World Cup.Related

“So what that will bring into play is the other parts of his game, his slower balls, his change-ups, his cutters. But ultimately a good yorker is a good yorker. And him being the height he is, he can actually get under a batter’s swing a little bit better. His margin for error is fractionally more than what a tall guy is. His game will suit the conditions really well.”Ellis has got his chance with Kings as a replacement player for fellow Australia, Tasmania, and Hurricanes quick Riley Meredith who has opted out of the second half of the IPL as he works his way back from a side strain he picked up on the recent tour of the Caribbean. Jhye Richardson also won’t be returning for the Kings, remaining home to play domestic cricket with Western Australia.Ellis is not a like-for-like replacement for either man. He has carved a niche in Australian domestic cricket as a death overs specialist. Partly, Griffith explains, due to his hunger to bowl the tough overs.”He wants them,” Griffith said. “And that’s half the battle. If you want to be a good death bowler you’ve got to want to bowl at the death. He wants that ball in his hands. He wants to help the team win the game. It’s not about him. It’s not about him showing how good he is. He wants to do a job for the 10 other blokes who are out there and again that’s a great attribute to have.”When he tries to bowl a yorker, he’ll get hit but he knows that he’s got the ability to come back next ball and run in and execute that yorker. He doesn’t run away. He’s not scared. He backs himself in at all times. And that’s one of the keys to his success, that he keeps backing himself.”There could also be more pace to come from Nathan Ellis•Getty Images

Griffith also believes his variations will be useful in the UAE, particularly his back-of-the-hand slower ball that he has developed over the last couple of years.”He’s got that ability with his shoulder, to be able to flick that hand right around,” he said. “Not all bowlers can do that. He’s got that flexibility to be able to do that so that’s a big part of his slower ball. The seam still comes out straight. He just keeps working on it. He runs in at a million miles an hour and that doesn’t change which is a big part of it as well. He doesn’t slow his action down to bowl it. If anything he actually puts more energy and effort in. But again, he misses one, that’s okay, he’ll move onto the next one and run in and bowl it. And you’ve got to have that mindset to be able to do that at the top level.”Ellis doesn’t have the express pace of Meredith or even Richardson, who is a similar height. But Griffith believes the 26-year-old has more pace in him as he continues to get stronger. He was particularly impressed with what he saw from Ellis at Tasmania’s pre-season training a fortnight ago when he had just come out of 14-day hotel quarantine, where the Australia players were only allowed out of their rooms to train for two hours in the final seven days of the two-week stint.”He actually looked like he was bowling a little bit faster,” Griffith said. “It’s an energy and effort thing with him, but he’s got a great release. He can get 140kph. I think he’s got 145 in him at times to go along with all the skills he’s got. It’s a pretty good package.”

Marnus Labuschagne's wicket backs up Tasmania's huge total

Jordan Silk struck an unbeaten century on another batter-friendly pitch

AAP08-Oct-2021Queensland’s star batters Marnus Labuschagne and Test hopeful Joe Burns blew promising starts against Tasmania in their Sheffield Shield match.Labuschagne struck 32 from 29 balls but chopped an innocuous Lawrence Neil-Smith delivery onto his stumps – the inside edge just clipped, and removed, the leg bail.Burns, seeking to press his claims for a Test recall for the Ashes series against England starting December 8 in Brisbane, also failed to capitalise on a lively start. The opener – who, like Labuschagne, struck five fours – made 26 from 30 deliveries but was carelessly dismissed: he advanced down the pitch to spinner Jarrod Freeman but his drive was caught at wide mid-off.Related

Both Labuschagne and Burns departed as frustrated figures, missing out on a chance to cash-in on a batter-friendly pitch at Karen Rolton Oval.Earlier, Tasmania batters Tim Ward and Jordan Silk posted centuries before the Tigers declared their first innings at the tea break. The 23-year-old Ward, who moved from Sydney last year to join Tasmania on a rookie contract, made 144 in his second Shield match.Silk was unbeaten on 100 – he registered his ton from 131 balls in the last over before tea and Tasmania promptly declared.Silk scored 90 runs in Friday’s middle session as Tasmania accelerated after Ward and nightwatchman Neil-Smith frustrated Queensland’s bowlers in the opening session with a 54-run stand.Queensland quick Michael Neser (2-60) and Mark Steketee (2-87) were multiple wicket-takers while Ward’s impressive knock – a maiden first-class ton featuring 19 fours from 343 balls – ended when leg before wicket to spinner Matt Kuhnemann.

Tim Murtagh named as Middlesex club captain after contract extension

Veteran will remain with county at least until end of 2022, and age of 41

ESPNcricinfo staff10-Nov-2021Tim Murtagh has been named as Middlesex’s club captain for the 2022 season, after signing a one-year contract extension which will see him remain at Lord’s until after his 41st birthday.Murtagh, who joined Middlesex from Surrey in 2007, has claimed 783 first-class wickets for the club, including 40 or more in 12 different seasons. He will resume the role in which he stood in for Peter Handscomb for the final five matches of the 2021 County Championship campaign.Murtagh’s appointment is the second major announcement from Middlesex since they parted company with former head coach Stuart Law last month. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Mark Ramprakash would be rejoining the club at which he played the first half of his career, as a batting consultant.”I’m obviously delighted to have extended my association with this great club for another season,” Murtagh said. “It has become a huge part of my life since the move across the river.”Having finished the season on a high last year I’m already excited about the challenge that the 2022 season holds with this group of players.”I’m honoured to have been asked to take on extra responsibility with the club captaincy and look forward to aiding Pete Handscomb as much as I can on the field next year.”Middlesex’s interim head coach, Alan Coleman, added: “We are delighted that Murts has agreed to extend his contract, as well as take on this additional leadership responsibility.”He is without doubt one of Middlesex’s cricketing greats, and its fantastic news that he’ll be continuing to run in for us from the Nursery End for at least the next year.”His influence on the rest of the squad cannot be underestimated, and alongside his wickets I’m certain he’ll continue to mentor our younger bowlers as they make their way in the game.”Middlesex endured a disappointing campaign in 2021, finishing the season in Division Three after a poor group stage notable for frequent batting collapses. However, Murtagh led the side to victory over Leicestershire in his first match in charge in July, and then oversaw three consecutive victories against Derbyshire, Sussex and Worcestershire. As club captain, he will once again take charge of the Championship side if Handscomb’s arrival from Australia is delayed by his Sheffield Shield involvement with Victoria.

Jitesh credits T20 resurgence to DK: 'He is trying to create a new player in me'

He says he has been able to execute shots he didn’t think he had thanks to the team’s backing

Shashank Kishore09-Apr-20251:30

Bangar: ‘JItesh has shown great improvement from previous years’

Jitesh Sharma credits his T20 resurgence to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) mentor Dinesh Karthik, who believes the wicketkeeper-batter can evolve into a true “360-degree” player.”It’s been a great journey till now because in the off-season, I really worked hard with him [Karthik],” Jitesh said ahead of RCB’s IPL 2025 game at home against Delhi Capitals (DC). “I think whichever shot which I am playing right now is the replica of what he used to play. He is trying to create a new player in me, because he believes that I can play 360 degrees. I am really enjoying myself in this new role.”Among the things Jitesh has been most excited about was being able to execute shots he didn’t think he had. And this, he said, had only been possible because of the team’s backing. On Monday, he hit a high-value unbeaten 19-ball 40 to kick RCB’s innings into top gear in the death overs against Mumbai Indians (MI). It made a massive difference to the end result, with RCB winning by 12 runs.Related

“While I am playing those shots, I am very happy [with the execution] because I have never tried those shots,” he said “And I am going to execute thanks to all the backing they give me. It’s been a wonderful journey which I am still excited about.”The off-season Jitesh referred to were the two high-performance camps Karthik and RCB’s coaching staff, led by Andy Flower, conducted for their Indian players in January and February. Among the things Jitesh worked on was his tough game, an added dimension to what is typically a robust power game.”My confidence doesn’t rely on the score. It always depends on my process and how I train in my practice,” he said. “Because if I have confidence in the end result, then the variables can go up and down. So I mostly keep my confidence high in the practice only.”Jitesh’s run of form with RCB has been a shot in the arm for his young career. Last season, Jitesh scored just 187 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 131. The lacklustre season also set his India aspirations back a fair bit.”I think last year’s performance was my mental thing,” he said about his slump. “I was not mentally in the game at that moment. I was thinking about future things. But right now, when I met Dinesh , he told me that it’s a human error. It’s not rocket science. It does happen to everyone so it’s fine.Jitesh Sharma has been executing shots he didn’t think he had•BCCI

“When he saw my batting, the way I bat, how I try to dominate, how I look to take the game forward… I am someone who always looks for the win. I don’t have the craze to take out runs. I have the craze to win matches. He saw and found out there are some shots that are still lacking, and we’ve started working on that. We are still in the process.”Jitesh has been a massive point of difference as a finisher for RCB, lending muscle to their lower-middle order. Jitesh is among seven batters – colleagues Rajat Patidar and Tim David are also in the list – to average over 40 while striking at more than 150 this season. Asked about this surge, Jitesh underlined how all of it was down to a process they had worked on behind the scenes.”I think we are playing very smart cricket,” he said. “It’s not like we are just going and bashing every bowler [recklessly]. We know everyone’s strengths in the batting line-up and the team management has given a proper role. Like Jitesh Sharma will go after certain bowlers, Phil Salt will go after some. That’s the kind of strategy we have. So we are going very smartly. We are not trying to dominate blindly.”

Luke Hollman's maiden hundred guides Middlesex in thriller

Key ninth-wicket stand hauls hosts over line in classic contest at Lord’s

ECB Reporters Network supported by Rothesay05-May-2025Luke Hollman’s maiden century paved the way for Middlesex to snatch a dramatic victory as they edged past Kent in a see-saw Rothesay County Championship classic at Lord’s.Bowled out for 129 on the opening day, Kent looked favourites after setting a stiff target of 365 and reducing their hosts to 81 for three overnight – but Hollman’s diligent knock of 103 anchored a remarkable fightback. The 24-year-old shared key partnerships with Stephen Eskinazi (41) – who retired hurt with a back spasm but returned later – and Jack Davies (59), only for leg-spinner Matt Parkinson to turn the contest back in Kent’s favour, dismissing Hollman and Davies in quick succession. It needed an unbroken ninth-wicket stand of 52 between Toby Roland-Jones and Zafar Gohar to wrap up a record Middlesex run-chase against Kent, the latter slog-sweeping Parkinson (three for 105) for six to secure victory with just one over remaining.A morning shower slightly delayed the resumption of Middlesex’s innings before not-out batters Hollman and Eskinazi knuckled down to blunt the visitors’ attack with few causes for alarm.Hollman overtook his partner by steering Kashif Ali to the point boundary and, even though Parkinson extracted some turn from the Pavilion End, the pair made steady progress during the first hour and half. However, they were separated when Eskinazi – having turned Parkinson behind square – clutched at his lower back while completing a routine single and grimaced with pain as he sank to the turf at the bowler’s end.The opener eventually limped back to the dressing-room, with replacement Ryan Higgins doing well to dig out an inswinging yorker from Jamal Richards shortly before another bout of drizzle curtailed the session.Hollman advanced beyond 50 for the sixth time in his red-ball career after lunch, sweeping and on-driving Parkinson for boundaries and then nudging a single to reach his individual landmark as Middlesex’s target dipped below 200.
But it was the former England leg-spinner who achieved a breakthrough, reacting quickly to deflect Hollman’s straight drive onto the wicket with non-striker Higgins scrambling in vain to make his ground. The run-out raised Kent spirits, with more close fielders ushered in as Parkinson was joined by Jack Leaning in a spin-only offensive, capturing another wicket as Tawanda Muyeye raced out from slip to snare a looping edge off bat and pad of Ben Geddes.Kashif returned to share the new ball with George Garrett, who was hoisted over the rope at long leg by Davies but almost accounted for Hollman on the stroke of tea, a clipped half-volley fractionally eluding the diving midwicket fielder.Hollman kept his cool to complete his ton from 184 balls and that was the signal for Davies to press the accelerator, slamming Garrett for a six and three fours during a single over that cost 29 in all.A reverse sweep for four off Parkinson took Davies to his half-century and simultaneously lifted Middlesex’s total above 300 – yet the pendulum appeared to swing again as Parkinson picked up two wickets in three balls.Hollman was first to go, snapped up at short leg before Davies holed out to deep midwicket and, having returned with a runner, Eskinazi could increase his score by just two before Joey Evison pinned him lbw with 51 still required.Gohar and Roland-Jones (23 not out) gradually whittled those down, while Evison (three for 71) and Parkinson maintained the pressure in tandem as the overs ticked away and shadows began to lengthen. With five needed and seven balls remaining, Gohar (30 not out) took on Parkinson and dispatched the ball over the short boundary to seal Middlesex’s second win of the season.

Ishan Kishan walks but Ultra Edge shows no edge

The SRH batter felt he had edged a leg glance to the wicket-keeper even though technology did not detect an edge

ESPNcricinfo staff23-Apr-20251:28

Aaron and Knight stumped by Kishan’s ‘bizarre’ dismissal

Ishan Kishan was dismissed in curious circumstances during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) home game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday, even as technology suggested he may not have been out.Kishan tried to glance a length ball from Deepak Chahar that was swinging down the leg side, failed to make proper contact, and then began to walk off even though none of the MI players had appealed for a caught behind after wicketkeeper Ryan Rickelton “caught” the ball.Umpire Vinod Seshan first began to raise his arms sideways to signal a wide, but then dropped one arm and raised the other hesitantly to signal out as he spotted Kishan walking off. MI captain Hardik Pandya ran up to Kishan and patted him on the helmet for his decision to walk without waiting for the umpire’s decision. However, when the Ultra Edge replays were shown on the broadcast a few deliveries later, there was no spike to indicate an edge as the ball passed the bat.It was the second time Kishan had fallen caught by the wicketkeeper down the leg side this season. On this occasion, he was dismissed for 1 off 4 balls, leaving SRH 9 for 2 in 2.1 overs after being asked to bat. They subsequently slipped further to 35 for 5 by the ninth over of the innings before posting 143 for 8, which was far from enough for MI.SRH are currently ninth in the points table in IPL 2025, having won only two of their first eight games, above only Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Their next three fixtures are against Chennai Super Kings (April 25), Gujarat Titans (May 2) and Delhi Capitals (May 5).MI are third with five wins from eight games. They play Lucknow Super Giants next (April 27), followed by Rajasthan Royals (May 1) and Gujarat Titans (May 6).
